2024 Report: Youth Advisory Board for Marginalized Young People- Promising Practices Executive Summary

In this Qualitative study, I interview 19 organizations across 13 different states that have Youth Advisory Boards (YABs) for Marginalized Young People, particularly young people ages 18-24 with lived experience with Homelessness &/or Housing Insecurity. Privileged Perceptions:
Comparing Practitioner Disparities in Understanding First-Generation Student Barriers

Sponsored by the Pell Institute as well as funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, I conducted a qualitative study exploring the role of practitioner perceptions of FGLI student barriers within Higher Education along 5 key themes: Access, Financial, Academic, Social & Personal, and Professional. My findings shift the discussion of FGLI student burdens to the structural investments and changes that are needed of higher education institutions to support the success of all students.

We showcase innovations in each category with recommendations for institutions and policy makers.
